Our 20 year vision for Bidhiinja Beach

Bidhiinja (Bid-hin-jar) Beach will be a place that celebrates its rich cultural heritage, regenerates the natural ecology, and provides sustainable homes and jobs for current and future generations.

Bidhiinja is the Dharawal word for oyster, a significant local food source for thousands of years

Respecting community, regenerating Country, and reimagining the peninsula.

The Kurnell Peninsula, once known for its industrial past, is undergoing a remarkable transformation, now recognised for its outstanding environmental, cultural, and recreational values.

Bidhiinja (Bid-hin-jar) Beach will contribute greatly to reimagining the peninsula.

And we will take a careful and staged approach to revitalising the more than 210 hectare site over the next 20 years.

Centred around community and cultural heritage, our master plan weaves together the rich cultural history of the peninsula whilst providing homes and jobs for the Shire's evolving and growing community.

In the first step, we are seeking rezoning approval from Sutherland Shire Council to endorse our vision and permit the proposed mix of land uses.

The master plan was presented to the Kurnell community in March 2024 at a community information drop-in session. Please find the information boards displayed at the session below:
